With over 25 books and e-books written about Mercedes-Benz cars, Bernd S. Koehling has proven to be an authority on the brand. Those books cover cars from the 1947 170V to the 2012 SL R231.
Bernd has been involved in the Mercedes scene since the early 1970s, when he restored his first 170 Cabrio B. Since then he has not only owned many classic Mercedes including a 220S, 300d Adenauer, 200D, 250SE, 280SE coupe 3.5, 300SEL, 350SL, 280E, 450SE, SLK230, he has also gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, which he shares with his readers in his books. Bernd has always considered Mercedes one of his favorite car manufacturers and has driven almost all Mercedes models built since the 1950s. His other weakness revolves around British cars, here especially Jaguar and Alvis.

Worth every cent spent!

Bernd's book is easy to read, has all the necessary history for the particular vehicle discussed - just enough to not bore you to death with all the technicalities, but also enough to keep the purist interested enough! It is written by a true enthusiast with a real love for the marque, something that is almost tangible throughout the book. The finishing touch of a personal account or two with him actually owning and driving one of the variants he is writing about and in his writing reminiscing about a love lost... The W108 250SE he owned at the tender age of 23.
A very entertaining and informative read that comes highly recommended!

An Enthusiast's Nice Achievement.

This is undoubtedly a good book: it covers most aspects of the cars, it is accurate, detailed, the pictures, all recent, are purposeful and of good quality.
Most of all, it is clearly en enthusiast's book: unlike some other publications which can be more clinical, this one reflects the passion of the author for the subject. It is full of personal anecdotes. Some readers may find that the author indulges too much into his life' storytelling, others may find that interesting and endearing.
Personally, I would have liked to see included in the book more original Mercedes documents of the era, which are often absent here. I guess there may be copyright issues.
Overall, I can only recommend the book to whoever is interested in the lovely Mercedes Benz cars of the 60s.
